KCA ACHIEVEMENTS
In keeping with the association’s philosophy, KCA has been engaged in both local and international outreach activities.
In 2006, the association organized a fund drive to help with the famine in drought stricken areas of Kenya. A total of $2,000 dollars was collected and sent to Kenya through “save a life fund” based in Nairobi. These funds were used to facilitate some feeding programs. Locally, on several occasions, KCA raises small funds within the organization to help defray costs for Kenyans and friends who are confronted with sudden unforeseen misfortunes and challenges.
Members of the association have on numerous occasions volunteered for local community activities that help local non-profit organizations. Two times a year, KCA organizes a cookout at the park to provide an opportunity for students and families of Kenyan descent to meet and interact.
In August 2009, KCA members did volunteer at the ATP tournament in Mason in an effort to raise funds for “Team Kenya” (Total of 10 people from Grace Baptist Church, Mason) who will be relocating to Kenya with their families for an extended mission program for a few years. While in Kenya they will help establish feeding centers for orphaned and poverty stricken families in Tiwi (Mombasa) and at the same time spread the gospel through Christian teaching.
In September 2009, KCA members held a fund raising dinner aimed at raising funds to assist unprivileged children. The unprivileged children include orphaned children and those from select poverty stricken communities whose families cannot afford to pay for formal elementary education and high school education. The funds raised would go toward a scholarship fund. The scholarships would be awarded to the children who meet the selection criteria. This event was held at the Conference Center in Mason Ohio.
In August 2011 for the third year, KCA members did volunteer at the ATP tournament in Mason in an effort to raise funds for an American pastor and his church group “Team Kenya” (Total of 10 people) who are relocating to Kenya with their families for an extended mission program for a few years. While in Kenya they will help establish feeding centers for orphaned and poverty stricken families in Tiwi (Mombasa) and at the same time spread the gospel through Christian teaching.
